Helicopter Pilot
Helicopter pilots are responsible and skilled Warrant Officers who control and fly the many helicopters operated by the Air Wing. They perform combat manoeuvres, close air support, spot and observe enemy positions, transport troops and equipment, and evacuate wounded troops. These Pilots have two squadrons that they can be attached to in the air wing, HMLA-469 and HCS-6.
Squadron Leader
The Squadron Leader is a Warrant Officer with a minimum rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4, who is directly responsible for all existing and new Pilots' training and competency in operations. As such this is a highly skilled and looked up to role in the Air Wing. The knowledge is usually passed down by generations of previous Squadron Leaders.
Naval Aviator
A Naval Aviator is a Commissioned Officer or Warrant Officer qualified as a crewed aircraft pilot in the United States Navy so as such are assigned to VFA-137. To achieve air dominance, one of the tasks these brave US airmen conduct what are known as Suppression and Destruction of Enemy Air Defences (SEAD/DEAD) missions, putting their lives on the line to disrupt and destroy adversary air defence systems that could be used to shoot down US and other friendly aircraft.
